Organizational strategies make life easier for everyone, but can also make a big difference with academic skills. Incomplete work or misplaced assignments can contribute to poor grades, frustration and lack of self-esteem. The Tornado Tamers group gives a fun environment to learn and practice organizational strategies that look at:
- Learning style and sensory preference
- The child’s current mode of organization with activities similar to targeted areas
- The child’s use of self-evaluation strategies
- The child’s spatial use of his/her workspace
- Social decision making-learning to pick up and read non-verbal cues, increasing repertoire of strategies for conflict resolution
During the workshops, OT’s will:
- Provide strategies to help the child improve his/her organization with projects requiring multi-step directions
- Suggest home activities that promote the development of needed skills
- Make it fun and easy to learn!
